"The Guild has been and should continue to be a vehicle for advancing the craft of coffee roasting. It has proven, however, to serve another important function—it is a source of accurate information about all aspects of coffee roasting that has been embraced by newcomers to the industry as an entryway or starting point in the field." -From the RG governance regulations. That sound you just heard was the sky opening up. Sunlight is filtering in. From the RG newsletter: MEMBERSHIP UPDATE Roaster's Guild Opens up Membership to non-SCAA Members!! A much awaited change has finally come. Roaster's Guild membership is now open to all those who roast coffee professionally. Roasting still needs to be an integral part of your job and all other requirements are in place, although roasters are no longer required to work for SCAA member companies. We welcome any (who) have not joined because of this requirement and believe their participation will enrich their careers as well as our guild. Please help us spread the word. Pricing is structured to encourage companies with multiple RG members to join the SCAA and Roaster's Guild Executive Council members will still be required to work for SCAA member companies. New membership applications will be available begining March 16, 2009 MARRG members are encouraged to join and, most importantly, participate. Volunteers are still needed for conference in Atlanta. Get involved and stay involved. Volunteer here.

We are proud to present the new MARRG website. Complete with a new roasters forum (In the Hopper), member blogs (Straight Shots), resources for roasters on the web and links to other regional roasters groups. Come here for news about our annual throwdown in Blacksburg or to find coffee roasters in your area. We will soon add links to member websites, a photo album from previous annual meetings and gatherings, a MARRG email newsletter, and Large Marrg's Gift Shop where you can download training materials, purchase MARRG items or make a donation. Stay tuned. Note: We need photos from all previous years. If you have attended the meetings in Blacksburg or on the Eastern Shore, please contact Russell at
